How to export category details?

This is a step by step instruction on how to export category details from SOBI2 using CSVI SOBI.

What are category details?

Category details contain all information regarding categories in SOBI2.

Where to find the category details?

The category details can be found by taking the following route: Components → Sigsiu Online Business Index 2 → Entries & Categories

The categories are shown in a tree view.

Templates

Templates contain the settings to be used during export and the fields to be exported.

Creating a template

To create a template follow this route: Components → CSVI SOBI → Templates. To create a new template to export field data take the following steps:

  1. Click on New
  2. Select Export
  3. Click on Continue
  4. Select type “Category details export”
  5. Select the export type (CSV or XML)
  6. Check “Include column headers”
  7. A filename can be specified here to always export to the same filename otherwise CSVI SOBI will create it's own filename on export.
  8. Select Both to export published and unpublished fields
  9. Click on Continue
  10. Change any values here if there are problems with the export, otherwise leave as it is
  11. Click Continue
  12. Fill in a name for the template
  13. Fill in delimiters to use for the CSV export
  14. Click on Save

Adding fields

The very first row allows for adding new fields to the template.

Field order

This is the order in which the fields will be exported.

Field name

The name of the field to be exported

Default value

When the exported data is empty, the field field will be filled with the default value.

Setting up the fields

Now the template settings are done, CSVI SOBI needs to know what exact data needs to be exported. Adding fields to the template will accomplish that.

  1. Select a template
  2. Click on Fields
  3. Fill in the field order
  4. Select the field to export from the dropdown menu
  5. Fill in a default value if required
  6. Click on the green check mark
  7. The field is now added to the template
  8. Repeat this process until all fields wanted are added
  9. When done click on Templates to go back to the template list

Exporting the data

From the control panel click on Export to go to the export screen. To export data take the following steps:

  1. Select the template to use for export
  2. Click on Export

Extra settings can be made if preferred.
