After a day of hard work on migrating the old site to the new, we have finally arrived at the point that the site is presentable to you. However we are far from done yet, so you will see changes happening over the next few weeks as we update all the content.

In the fast moving world of the internet we all try to keep up with what is happening around us. So is CSV Improved. Now that Joomla has released it's stable version 2.5 (which by now is already replaced by version 2.5.1) it is time for CSV Improved to follow suit. The last month a string of beta releases of CSVI 4 has seen the light of day and I am happy to see people are eagerly using it despite the growing pains VirtueMart 2 is having. Even though CSVI 4 already offers a lot of goodies there are a lot more plans to improve and expand CSVI.
Site maintenance
The first step forward is to upgrade the site to the latest and greatest technologies. This means that on Saturday February 4th 2011, the site will be down for most of the day. There will be no access at all, if you need to get that copy of CSVI to work on the weekend, do it now. If you have a burning question, post it today. This weekend everything will be slow as the site gets updated. In the weeks following the major update, changes will continue to happen but at a smaller scale, so excuse the black holes we might create :)
What is new?
Change of license
In the past CSVI was licensed under the Creative Commons license but to be in line with Joomla, all CSVI products will be relicensed under the GNU/GPL license version 3. The latest versions of CSVI were already licensed under the GNU/GPL version 3 license. On the new site you can download the new versions without the domain limitation.
No more domain restrictions
The change of license also means that the use of CSVI is no longer limited to a single domain. You can install it on as many sites as you like.
Change of name
As announced in the past, the name of CSVI VirtueMart will be changed to CSVI as CSVI does support other components. In the CSVI 4 version there is already support for VirtueMart 2 and Akeeba Subscriptions and more components will follow. The name change will also make clear which version you are running. CSVI will be released in 2 flavours:
- CSVI
This is the free version of CSVI and can be downloaded and used as you like and comes with basic forum support. - CSVI Pro
This is the paid version of CSVI and can be downloaded and used as you like and comes with registered forum support. Further it will include many new features that will be added over time. A subscription is valid for 1 year of free updates.
On the initial release of CSVI there won't be any differences between the two but work is already under way for adding more advanced features to CSVI Pro.
End of life
As mentioned before both CSVI SOBI and CSVI JoomFish will reach there end of life on May 1st 2012. To prepare for this the products won't be available for sale anymore after the site change. Active subscribers will be able to download the software as long as their subscription is active. There will be no replacement for CSVI SOBI, as for CSVI JoomFish it will depend on what is going to be released and will be assessed in due time.
Documentation
The documentation of CSVI has always been and still is a weak point of CSVI. Some say that no manual is not good and others say that the current manual is too much. Where is the golden path of documentation? I am not sure ;) However the documentation is going to be improved on the site to include more step by step guides as this should be a better way of guiding people on how to use CSVI. This is going to take time, so your patience is requested as the documentation is being written.
Affiliates
The new site will also feature an affiliate program though a lot more simplified. Existing affiliates, you will be contacted about changes to your affiliate URL.
Celebration
To celebrate the long-awaited Joomla 2.5 and CSVI 4, we are going to give 25% off any new subscription and if you are extending your subscription you will get a €20 euro discount. Stable release
The CSVI 4/CSVI Pro 4 stable release will be out this weekend on February 5th 2012.

Why?
The error message Settings not saved happens when the database tables are not correctly installed or not installed at all.
How to fix it?
