Looking for a useful answer?

Read this first and make sure you checked all steps: www.csvimproved.com/frequently-asked-questions/635-troubleshooting-import-errors

Don't just say it doesn't work but describe in detail what is happening and add the following information:
* VirtueMart version
* CSVI version (Latest is not a version number)
* Sample of the file being imported
* Collected debug information

Without this information you won't get a useful answer. If no debug log is attached, you will get a request to post it.

Where to get the debug information?

A tutorial (www.csvimproved.com/frequently-asked-questions/390-how-to-collect-debug-information) has been written to help you collect your debug information. For CSVI 3, there is a video available (www.csvimproved.com/downloads/file/18-collect-debug-information)

I moved my site to a different type of host (shared hosting) to a Virtual private server. I moved it via Akeeba backup (as I have done in the past) and everything seemed to be working ok until I tried to import a small batch of products. When I use the saved import job I can't upload from my browser as I have done in the past, when I go to the 'about' screen CSVI shows the /tmp/com_csvivirtuemart and /tmp/com_csvivirtuemartdebug as not writable. They are, and I even tried setting the permissions on the directories to 777, the same result happens. If I put the import file on the server and "load from the server" the import will work. The file itself doesn't seem to be any issue, but actually I think there is a setting "saved" from the other domain name/paths the site was on and that is the cause of the issue. I did update the paths to the correct suggested paths on the path tab also.
Do or do not, there is no try.

CSVI checks if the folder exists, if not that is when it gives the error. Check in your Joomla configuration where the tmp path is set to. This is probably still set to the old server one.

The /tmp path and other paths have been updated prior to my posting on here. The /tmp path shows writable in the about page, the two sub directories under it do not show writable but actually are. In the Joomla config this is the setting for the /tmp directory

var $tmp_path = '/tmp';

If you do an import and enable the "Collect debug information", do you get any errors? If the debug file is created without problems, you can ignore what is on the About page.

Debug log output when I try to upload the file.
"Cannot create unpack folder: /tmp/com_csvivirtuemart/1334244111"

/tmp directory set to 755

Debug log output when I try to upload the file.
Cannot create unpack folder: /tmp/com_csvivirtuemart/1334244389

/tmp and /tmp/com_csvirtuemart/ directory set to 777

When I set the file to load from the server (the same file uploaded) there is no debug log and all records import.

When I import the file from the server the webpage flashes the errors like below and goes off the page for a brief moment then finishes with no errors or error log.
